Quick Response and Community Support: Cleveland Police Aid Family in Crisis

Lorenzo

In the pre-dawn hours of September 4th, a devastating event unfolded when a suspected drunk driver crashed into an apartment, trapping a seven year old under the truck’s hot engine. Quick-acting first responders, including Sgt. Thomas and Officer Wolski from the Second District, not only rescued the child, Lorenzo, but also arrested the driver. Lorenzo is now recovering from severe third-degree burns, undergoing medical procedures and physical therapy.

Recognizing the family’s hardships, Sgt. Thomas and Officer Wolski initiated a donation drive, gathering toys, a replacement Nintendo Switch, and essential home furnishings. They also coordinated with Onix Outreach and a private donor to provide gift cards for groceries and clothing. The Cleveland Police Foundation contributed financial assistance for any additional family expenses. Special thanks go to Sgt. Thomas and Officer Wolski for their extraordinary commitment to community well-being.
