The Cleveland Police Department’s Guardians of Hope softball team closed their season with a strong run, finishing in 2nd place after five games in one day.

Earlier this month, the team presented Dawn Marie Derbin, mother of fallen Euclid P.D. Officer Jacob Derbin, with a donation from the team and the Cleveland Police Foundation, drawn from proceeds of the Officer Down Tournament the Guardians hosted. A second donation was provided in honor of fallen Cleveland Police Officer Jamieson Ritter.

“Thank you to all of our sponsors and everyone on the team who showed up to play and support us. We had an amazing season and today showed that we had the potential all along. We finished the season in 2nd place after playing 5 games this morning… It’s been a great ride!” the team shared in a statement.
