Celebrating Officer George Janusczak’s 26 Years of Service

After 26 years of service with the Cleveland Division of Police, Officer George Janusczak is retiring from the Mounted Unit. Known for his steady presence in the saddle and his dedication to both the department and the community, his career is being celebrated by family, friends, and fellow officers alike.

His daughter Susannah shared her pride with a collage of photos of her father in uniform, writing, “For 26 years, my dad put his life on the line so we all can sleep at night. Today he hung up his badge. I’m so proud of being his daughter.”

The Cleveland Police Mounted Unit also honored Officer Janusczak’s retirement with a message of gratitude and a look back at his years in the saddle:

“Congratulations Officer Janusczak on your retirement! After an incredible 26 years of dedicated service as a Cleveland police officer and a cherished member of the Mounted Unit, it’s time to hang up your boots and ride off into the sunset! Your commitment to our community, bravery in the line of duty, and the countless lives you’ve touched will always be remembered. You’ve not only served with honor but have also inspired many with your passion for protecting and serving. Enjoy this new chapter of your life—you’ve certainly earned it! Thank you for your service, and best wishes for all the adventures that lie ahead.”

From neighborhood patrols to city parades, Officer Janusczak and his horses have been a familiar sight to Clevelanders for decades. The Cleveland Police Foundation is proud to support the Mounted Unit and joins in celebrating this milestone, thanking Officer Janusczak for his service and wishing him the very best in retirement.
