12119151_525328720965698_4952285750869279217_nThe Cleveland Police Foundation and Community Policing partnered with the Cleveland FBI and the FBI Citizens’ Academy to officially unveil the Zoo themed Little Free Library at the 2nd District today. This library is in honor of fallen FBI Agent Johnnie Oliver, who was killed in the line of duty in 1979 apprehending a bank robbery suspect. Special Agent in Charge of the Cleveland FBI office, Stephen Anthony, was on hand to speak about Agent Oliver and to dedicate the library. As a special tribute, pre-school students from FUNdamental Child Care of Menorah Park were read a couple of stories from Channel 19’s Denise Dufala and Captain Keith Sulzer. The purpose of these libraries being placed in police district lobbies is to create more positive interactions with Cleveland Police Officers, as well as promote literacy in our community. A huge thank you to the FBI Citizens’ Academy who funded this library, their co-chair Richard Schwalberg, Grace Leon, WKYC’s Margaret Bernstein, the Cleveland Office of the FBI, Sarah Cahill, 2nd District’s Captain Tom Mandzak, Channel 19’s Denise Dufala, and the Cleveland Police Foundation.
