What to do when stopped by the police

DO YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO WHEN STOPPED BY THE POLICE?
HAVE THESE QUESTIONS BEEN ASKED TO YOU WHEN STOPPED BY THE POLICE?
                              * What is your name?
                              * Where do you live?
                              * Do you have any identification?
                              * Do you have proof of insurance?
These simple questions can be answered easily, but your reactions and responses to these questions are critical. Problems can be created by answers which may seem hostile or rude to the police officer. Usually when an officer stops you, he/she will have a legitimate reason for doing so, even though you may not agree. The officer may be investigating a complaint or responding to a police radio call that a crime has just been committed in your neighborhood. Whatever the reason(s) you are the one being asked the questions. You may be considered a suspect, or you may know something the officer believes will help in the investigation. It is also possible that the officer may think you are in danger. Remember that it is very important to answer honestly, remain calm, and cooperate with the police officer.
