2017 Second District Community Relations Awards

On November 30, 2017 the Second District Police Community Relations Awards Ceremony was held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. A large crowd was present to honor police officers and citizens who went above and beyond the call of duty. There were family members, Mayor Frank Jackson, Safety Director Mike McGrath, numerous city councilmen, and a host of other city dignitaries in attendance. The ceremony was emceed by Second District Commander Tom Stacho. Being recognized were three recipients receiving the Cleveland Police Foundation’s Community Service Award. They included Patrol Officer Hubert Kidd #865, a community outreach officer; Rose Roy, a neighborhood activist and volunteer; and the LJ Minor Corporation, a longtime friend and Second District community partner. Following the program the guests were treated to a delicious meal provided by Bruno’s Ristorante. This event was the fifth and final police-community awards ceremony for the year 2017. CPF Community Partnerships Coordinator Bob Guttu remarked, “It was a pleasure to attend these ceremonies and honor the officers and citizens that make the City of Cleveland a safer and better place to live.”

The Cleveland Police Foundation is the official charity for the Cleveland Division of Police and the only organization authorized to solicit charitable contributions on its behalf.

We provide funding for youth and community outreach programs, community policing and engagement initiatives, safety & crime prevention programs, and support the members of the Cleveland Division of Police to help them better perform their duties. Contributions to the CPF are tax deductible under section 501 (c)(3) of the IRS Code.
