17050717-mmmainCleveland Safety Director Michael McGrath promised members of city council Tuesday that police officers will receive a “tremendous amount of training” before the city hosts the Republican National Convention in June 2016.

In the coming year, the Federal Emergency Management Agency will train Cleveland police on subjects ranging from cultural sensitivity to tactics, at no cost to the city, and will pay for officers to attend the agency’s training facility in Alabama, McGrath said during one of council’s budget hearings.
