Personal Reflection

donationWhile processing a huge stack of donations mailed in for the Skernivitz and Sabo families, I came across an envelope from Staten Island, New York. Chicken-scratched across the front was the Cleveland Police Foundation address with no return. Upon opening, I found a crudely folded piece of ripped grocery bag with a partial take-out receipt still hanging by a staple. Scribbled on the paper was “SKERNIVITZ + SABO FAMILIES” and stuffed inside were four crumpled dollar bills.

Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two very small copper coins. So He said, “‘Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all the others. They gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”
