January 2024 Newsletter: Embracing New Leadership and Strategic Directions

January 2024 - The Partner

The Cleveland Police Foundation kicks off 2024 with a fresh perspective and leadership, ready to deepen the connection between the Cleveland Division of Police and our community.

  • Strategic Shift in Focus: The CPF is realigning its strategic direction to prioritize programs that support meaningful interactions between police officers and children, as well as initiatives under the ‘Heroes Program’ aimed at officer wellness.

  • A Fond Farewell: Rick DeChant, our esteemed Executive Director since 2020, has announced his retirement. His leadership has significantly advanced the CPF’s mission, fostering numerous programs that benefited police wellness, family support, and community engagement.

  • Police Officers of the Month: Officers Ismail Quran and Theresa Tobin are recognized for their dedicated service, including their impactful role in resolving a significant case involving juvenile suspects, highlighting their commitment to safeguarding our community.

  • Community Partner Spotlight: This month, we honor Rick DeChant not just for his leadership within the CPF but also for his active engagement in community events, embodying the essence of community policing.

  • 2024 ‘Fishing with Cops’ Events: We’re excited to expand the ‘Fishing with Cops’ program, an initiative that promotes bonding between police officers and youth through fishing outings, thanks to the support of FirstEnergy, All Metal Sales, and the ODNR.

  • Introducing Kathy Heigle: Kathy Heigle steps in as our new Chief Administrative Officer/Controller, bringing her strategic expertise to further the CPF’s mission of enhancing the bond between the Cleveland Division of Police and the citizens it serves.

As we embrace these changes and look forward to a year of impactful programs and community engagement, we invite you to join us in our mission. Discover more about our new strategic directions and how you can be a part of our journey in this month’s newsletter.
