Helping a Woman in Crisis

On February 3rd, officers from the First District responded to a call of a female in crisis out on Lake Erie as it was frozen.
Understanding the urgency and potential danger of the situation, officers quickly arrived on scene and safely made contact with the female. With care and compassion, officers were able to escort her off the ice and back to shore.
Cleveland EMS met officers on scene and transported the female to a local hospital for further evaluation and support.
This incident serves as an important reminder that help is available. If you or someone you know is experiencing a crisis, you are not alone.
Call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, to connect with trained counselors 24 hours a day. In an emergency, always call 911.
Cleveland Police remain committed to serving our community with professionalism, compassion, and care.

A special thank you to Officers Mercer and Galewood.
