On Saturday, August 8, 2015 the ” Splash on Britt Oval” was celebrated to an enthusiastic crowd of kids, and adults. Also on hand were officers from The Cleveland Division of Police Fourth District who interacted with the kids in numerous activities, and all enjoyed the music provided by Dee Jay Doc and the Fresh Camp. Serving the hot dogs, and ice cream were Captain Keith Sulzer, and Officer Anna Mercada of the Community Policing Unit, and they were assisted by trusted helpers Rose Roy, and Alice Wygrocki. Perhaps the most popular display was the dunk tank which drew extra interest from the kids when Captain John Sotomayor of the Fourth District climbed on and was dunked numerous times. All in all it was an enjoyable time shared by not only the residents, and kids living around Britt Oval but the officers as well. Officer Henry Steel said it best when he stated ” I really enjoy coming out to these events because it lets the folks in the neighborhoods, and the kids see that we enjoy the interaction with them”. Thank you to the following sponsors for making this event a success. The Saint Luke’s Foundation, The Cleveland Police Foundation, Commander Deon McCaulley, and the Fourth District, Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative, Cleveland Neighborhood Progress, and Land Studio.
