Former Foster Child Receives Wish of Attending Globetrotters Game

Here is a thank you email received by the Cleveland Police Foundation. Christine asked the Cleveland Police Foundation for help in acquiring tickets to the Globetrotters game at the Q to take her former foster child whose wish was to see the Globetrotters play in person. Jason Beudart and the great people at A Special Wish Foundation donated the tickets to CPF.

“Attached is a photo of the boys enjoying the Globetrotters game this past Monday. All three had a great time. It’s unfortunate that one of their legends, Meadowlark Lemon, died the day before. The show was great starting off with a commemoration to Meadowlark Lemon and their founder, Abe Saperstein. A quick review of their 90 year history performing in 122 countries and playing over 25,000 games was pretty impressive.
The players started in their throw-back uniforms of shorty white shorts, white shirt, and socks that were black and white striped. The boys were quite surprised at the length of the shorts and thought they were pretty funny looking. As the boys watched, they were full of smiles as the players whizzed through fascinating ball handling techniques, trick shots and short comedy routines. The second half of the game, they appeared in their traditional red, white and blue uniforms with the whistling tune that everyone recognizes and loves and beat the Washington All Stars in a gripping final second shot.
This is was the first time for Zain to ever attend a major sporting event, and he was so thrilled to be able to share it with his friend and half brother. Thanks so much for making this a truly memorable Christmas event. I am sure Zain will always cherish this memory along with his souvenirs and autographs.
And, a special thanks for making it possible for me to take him to the game and to see the players play. My father took me as a child and I still have the autograph picture from the late 60’s that I tucked into Zain’s program book that he quickly put in his treasure chest of keepsakes. Now Zain has the opportunity to take his kids some day and pass down the memories.”
