Invest in Your Community with the Cleveland Police Foundation

Independent from the Cleveland Division of Police, we represent an alliance of business and civic leaders, law enforcement organizations, and individuals committed to the ideal that an educated, well-trained, and modernly equipped police department results in a safer community for all.

How We're Making a Difference

The Foundation has been quietly working proactively by investing in and implementing innovative community policing initiatives, engagement activities and events that foster stronger relations and build bridges between citizens and police officers.

The Foundation’s continuous investment in proven strategies and programs is bringing citizens and law enforcement together to resolve issues and encourage police openness to reform through cultural transformation.

1.

Implement “cultural transformation” in each of the five Cleveland Police Districts

Building upon a successful pilot program that improved internal relationships and operations and helped police officers to be more empathetic and culturally responsive to the communities and neighborhoods they serve.

Introduce technology to support human efforts to fight crime in the city’s neighborhoods to save lives and track down perpetrators

2.

The pilot implementation of ShotSpotter technology funded by the Lozick Family Foundation has been installed in a high crime area to pinpoint the location of gunshots via sensitive audio equipment, enabling rapid response.

3.

Enhance demographic and gender diversity within the Division of Police through initiatives like the Foundation’s successful “Safety Career Pipeline Program”

We engage high school students in underserved areas to equip them with the skills in preparation for successful careers in public safety.

Expand opportunities for interaction between police officers and citizens through enhanced “Community Policing” activities

4.

Examples include facilitated dialogues between Police officers and kids called “Conversations for Change,” and events like Fishing with Cops, Police District Community Meetings with Police Commanders, Summer Picnics, and more.

Increase the capacity of Cleveland Police Charities

5.

Including the Police Athletic League, Cops for Kids, Mounted Unit, Pipes & Drums Corps, and the Police Historical Museum to better support Community Policing efforts.

Support the welfare and mental health of Cleveland Police officers

6.

Officers face incredibly stressful circumstances in pursuit of their duties. The Foundation’s “Hero’s Fund” assists families of officers killed in the line of duty, and officers with duty-related health issues.
