Use of Force Simulation Project

Cleveland Police Foundation

Portable firearms training system

We are seeking to raise funds to purchase a portable system to utilize in our training of our Explorers & Pipeline kids, as well as in a community trust building program. During this summer, I observed the impact the simulation had on building empathy by engaging our youth in conversations about safety. Our kids were able to experience what it’s like from the police officers’ viewpoints and see them as people and our police officers were able to hear our kids’ perspectives and see them as human beings. In fact, the students suggested having other youth experience this program so they can learn what it’s like to be a police officer.

This NPR story discusses what’s happening in Charlotte, NC to mend the trust between the community and police. We are proposing the Meggitt FATS® firearm training system for the Pipeline Program.
