Police Officer David Fahey #2453
End of Watch: January 24, 2017
Cleveland (OH) Police Department
Police Officer David Fahey was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver while on the scene of a vehicle crash. Officer Fahey is the first officer to be struck and killed in 2017 and the first law enforcement fatality from the state of Ohio.

Cops for Kids at MetroHealth made another visit to the kids, families, and staff at MetroHealth Hospital. The Cleveland Police Foundation and officers from Community Policing and the 2nd District passed out toys, badges, and some special blankets made by our friend Katie Daley. One of the families we visited with came to Cleveland from Punjabi, India, and they were pleasantly surprised that officers in this country do wonderful things like this for "our' children!!

The Cleveland Police Foundation recently introduced their new Little Free Library at Buhrer Elementary School. CPF wants to thank our friend Paul Zimmer and crew at PCS Auto Body for painting our new library and equipping it, appropriately enough, with flashing blue and red lights. This new library is on wheels and will be transported all throughout the city in our Cops for Kids truck.

In partnership with the Cleveland Division of Police, Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association, and the Fraternal Order of Police Cleveland Lodge 8, the CPF proudly introduces the January 2017 Police Officer of the Month Detective Kevin Callahan of Police 4th District .

The kids and staff at St. Francis School invited Cleveland Police and Fire to lunch for their annual Safety Forces Appreciation Day. Community Policing and 5th District officers joined CFD and had a great time interacting with the kids during lunch. The Cleveland Police Foundation challenged the kids to participate in an essay/art project on "How can police improve their relationship with the kids in our community?". The winning team of 2 will each receive a $50 Target card courtesy of CPF. Thank you to Principal Scott Embacher for understanding how important it is to create positive interactions between police and our kids!
